JOB DESCRIPTION: Wholesale Sales Associate


Food Commons Fresno is a fresh, fun, and comprehensive local food project. We seek passionate individuals to join our team.


We are searching for a Sales Associate to contribute to the growth of our wholesale business. The position includes working directly with wholesale manager in growing the wholesale division of Food Commons Fresno. The principle objective is to seamlessly connect local food producers like restaurants, chefs and food artisans with local farms. This involves building infrastructure that benefits the local sustainable farming economy and increasing local access to the highest quality produce.   



  • Outreach to potential customers.

  • Register new customers on website, provide tutorial and ongoing support.

  • Provide customer service for all existing customers.

  • Coordinate orders with the Supply Coordinator and Packing Team.

  • Verify produce received matches order in quantity and quality.

  • Pack orders and deliver to customers.

  • Invoice and receive payments from customers.

  • Maintain quality control frequently verifying customers are receiving quality produce.

  • Publish fresh list emails to customers and other regular communications.

  • Receive and respond to calls and text messages from customers.



  • Take responsibility for the brand promise and provide exceptional service at all times.

  • Be familiar with and have a sound knowledge of wholesale products and food safety.

  • Attend and contribute to training sessions and meetings.

  • Exercise responsible behavior at all times representing Food Commons Fresno.

  • Maintain strong, professional relationships with colleagues, partners, and customers.

  • Participate in growing other aspects of Food Commons Fresno operations.

  • Carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.


All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Experience in produce sales, ordering or similar positions

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Ability to lift and twist while carrying boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • High comfort level with computers, common software programs and applications.

  • Willingness to build skills.

  • Passionate about local food system development in the Fresno region.

  • Flexibility and ability to work in a complex and dynamic start-up environment with balance and a healthy sense of humor.

  • Highly accountable and high level of self-initiation.


Strong preference will be given to applicants with the following attributes:

  • Significant previous administrative or operating experience in food or farming businesses.

  • Familiarity with standard produce packs, sizing, and ratings.

  • Strong connections with potential customers and/or suppliers

  • Experience with social media management and marketing

  • Availability of reliable transportation.

  • Multilingual.



  • 20 hours a week to start (flexible but likely Monday through Friday)

  • Compensation based on experience.

  • Opportunity to increase hours and pay may become available with business growth and positive job review.
