Food Commons Fresno is a fresh, fun, and comprehensive local food project. We seek passionate individuals to join our team.


Join us! We are searching for a part-time skilled administrative assistant for Road 20 Farm, a division of Food Commons Fresno (FCF) Community Corporation, who will  input financial transactions, create reports, and keep records for certifications. Successful candidates must have a willingness to expand their responsibilities and take on additional training to grow with the team.



  • Input transactions into the accounting and record keeping system (invoices, bills, shipping receipts, labels, etc.)
  • Maintain tracking and record keeping systems for organic and food safety certification
  • Order farm and office supplies and maintain inventories
  • Maintain office equipment
  • Assist employees with HR related forms and questions (sick leave, time cards, overtime,               etc.)
  • Assist Farm Manager with employee communication



  • Acquire sound knowledge of all Food Commons Fresno Community Corporation and Road 20 Farm operations and policies
  • Become familiar with organic and food safety standards
  • Gather information and records needed for certification audits
  • Ensure that policies and procedures for organic and food safety compliance are adhered to.
  • Positively represent Food Commons Fresno, and maintain strong, professional relationships with colleagues, partners, customers and public
  • Carry out other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned



  • Education: community college degree in business or accounting or equivalent substantial experience
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping, data entry and payroll
  • High comfort level with computers, accounting software programs and applications, and online tools with willingness to build skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a complex and dynamic startup environment with balance and a healthy sense of humor
  • Highly accountable and high level of self-initiation
  • Bilingual (Spanish-English)


STRONG PREFERENCE will be given to applicants with the following attributes

  • Previous bookkeeping experience in a food or farming business
  • Knowledge regarding organic and food safety certification and compliance
  • Experience/skill with Xero accounting software
  • Experience with digital communication and team collaboration tools
  • Previous bookkeeping experience working with an online customer portal
  • Passionate about local food system development in the Fresno region



  • 20-25 hours a week to start (flexible, but at least three weekdays in office during business hours).
  • Compensation based on experience
  • Opportunity to increase hours and pay may become available
