SCOPE AND GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
Food Commons Fresno is a fresh, fun, and comprehensive local food project. We seek passionate individuals to join our team.
Join us! We are searching for a part-time skilled bookkeeper for Food Commons Fresno (FCF) who will handle financial transactions and create reports from that information. Successful candidates must have a willingness to expand their responsibilities and take on additional training to grow with the team.

GENERAL DUTIES
- Accounts payable, accounts receivable, month end close, journal entries
- Financial statements, including financial analysis
- Payroll and payroll reports
- Government compliance (local, state and federal)
- Clerical and administrative support
OTHER DUTIES
- Acquire sound knowledge of Food Commons Fresno Community Corporation operations and policies
- Positively represent Food Commons Fresno, and maintain strong, professional relationships with colleagues, partners, customers and public
- Carry out other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Education: community college degree in business or accounting or equivalent substantial experience
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, payroll and financial statements
- High comfort level with computers, accounting software programs and applications, and online tools with willingness to build skills
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Flexibility and ability to work in a complex and dynamic startup environment with balance and a healthy sense of humor
- Highly accountable and high level of self-initiation
STRONG PREFERENCE will be given to applicants with the following attributes
- Previous bookkeeping experience in a food or farming business
- Experience/skill with Xero accounting software
- Experience with digital communication and team collaboration tools
- Previous bookkeeping experience working with an online customer portal
- Passionate about local food system development in the Fresno region
HOURS and COMPENSATION
- 15-20 hours a week to start (flexible, but at least three weekdays during business hours).
- Compensation based on experience
- Opportunity to increase hours and pay may become available
